Introduction

Welcome to VDOAPP — the free video editor that runs right in your browser. In this tutorial you'll learn the whole editor, from your first cut to the final export — including the new AI tools. Everything happens on your own device, so your videos are never uploaded.

Getting started

Open the editor at vdoapp.com. Drag your videos or photos onto the preview, or click Add media. You can choose several files at once.

The timeline

Your clips line up on the timeline, in order. Drag a clip to move it, and drag its edges to trim it. The rows below hold text, stickers, video track 2, voiceovers and music.

Playback controls

Under the preview are the playback controls. Press play, or the space bar. Jump to the start or end, to the previous or next cut, or five seconds back and forward. These buttons step one frame at a time, and the loop button replays your video over and over.

Timecode & track height

For precise editing, switch the clock from seconds to timecode or frames. The ruler follows, and when you zoom in you can see every single frame. These two buttons make the tracks taller or shorter.

Cutting & right-click

To cut a clip, move the playhead and press S, or click Split. Right-click any clip to see everything you can do with it: duplicate, change speed, reverse, freeze a frame, move it to track 2, copy its look, or run an AI tool.

Templates & shape

The Canvas tab sets the shape of your video and holds 14 ready-made templates. One click applies a shape, transitions, a look and titles. Magic resize turns a wide video into a vertical one and keeps people in the picture.

Speed & motion

In the Clip tab you set each clip's speed and volume, and add motion. Motion presets like Ken Burns, Punch in and Spin in animate a clip with one tap.

Filters & colour

The Filter tab has 22 looks, from Cinematic to Noir, plus fine adjustments. Auto colour fixes dark or tinted clips, and Match colour gives every clip the same look.

Text & captions

Add titles in the Text tab: choose a font, a style and an animation. Auto captions listens to your video and writes the captions for you, in more than 30 languages.

Edit by transcript

Here's something new: Edit by transcript. Press Transcribe clips and every word appears with its exact time. Click words to mark them, or let the AI mark retakes, stutters and filler words. Press Cut marked words, and the video, the captions and every other layer close up neatly.

Music, voice & sound

The Audio tab is all about sound: the mixer, music and sound effects. Record a voiceover, or type a script and let text to speech read it — in 12 languages. Remove silences tightens your pacing, and Even out volume balances every clip.

AI tools

The AI tab lists every AI tool, and each one runs on your device. Remove backgrounds, blur faces, clean up noise, stabilise shaky shots, and turn long videos into short highlights.

AI chapters

AI chapters finds where the topic changes, names each part and adds markers to your timeline. Copy the list straight into your YouTube description.

Export

When you're happy with your edit, click Export. Pick a preset like YouTube 1080p or Shorts, Reels and TikTok — or set the resolution, frame rate and quality yourself. Press Export, and your MP4 downloads with no watermark.

Wrap-up

That's it! Your project saves automatically in your browser, and undo reverses any step. Find more guides at vdoapp.com. Happy editing!

The narration is an AI voice made with the same on-device text-to-speech the editor offers.
