How to make a highlight video
- Add your long footage. One long recording or many clips both work.
- Pick a length. In the AI tab under AI highlights, choose 15 s, 30 s or 60 s.
- Press Make highlights. The timeline is replaced with the chosen moments, in their original order.
- Refine. Trim, swap or extend any piece. If you don't like the result, one undo brings back your full edit.
How the moments are chosen
Every half second of every video clip is given a score, then the best-scoring stretches are picked until the target length is reached:
- Sound (40% of the score) — speech, laughter and cheering are louder than the quiet moments in between.
- Faces (25%) — people on screen hold attention better than empty scenery.
- Motion (20%) — action beats stillness.
- Focus (15%) — sharp frames beat blurry ones, and very dark frames are marked down.
Each piece is between 2 and 5 seconds long (longer pieces for longer highlights), never crosses a shot change in your footage, and the pieces stay in chronological order so the story still flows.
Finish it for social media
- Set Canvas to 9:16 and use Smart reframe in the AI tab so the person stays in the vertical frame.
- Generate auto captions — most short videos are watched with the sound off.
- Add music and use beat sync so the cuts land on the rhythm.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of footage works best?
Vlogs, talks, interviews, events, sports and travel footage — anything with variety. A single static shot of a landscape has little to choose between, so the result will be close to a simple trim.
How long does it take?
The analysis runs faster than real time; a 36-second test video took about three seconds on a laptop. Long recordings take proportionally longer.
Does it include photos?
No — photos have no speech or motion to score, so highlights are made from your video clips.
Is my video uploaded?
No. All analysis happens in your browser.
