Auto colour correction and colour matching

Footage from different moments, cameras and phones rarely matches — one shot is dark, the next is blue, the third is washed out. VDOAPP reads the colours of each clip and corrects exposure, contrast, saturation and colour cast, or matches every clip to the one you like.

How to correct colour automatically

  1. Select a clip and open the Filter tab (or right-click the clip → Look).
  2. Press ✨ Auto colour this clip — or All clips to fix the whole video at once.
  3. To match clips, select the clip whose look you want everywhere and press 🎯 Match all to this clip. Its filter and LUT are copied too.
  4. Fine-tune. The result is ordinary slider settings in Adjust and Grade, so nudge anything you like.

How it decides

  • Reads several frames across the clip, not just one, so a single dark moment doesn't skew it.
  • Exposure and contrast are brought into a normal range — footage that's already fine is left almost untouched.
  • Colour cast (too blue, too orange, too green) is reduced gently, so a sunset or a blue sea keeps its mood.
  • Saturation is lifted on washed-out clips and calmed on garish ones.
  • Match compares each clip with the reference as you've graded it, including its adjustments.

Tip: correct first, then add a creative look. Auto colour gives every clip a neutral starting point; a LUT or filter on top then looks the same everywhere. See colour grading with LUTs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I undo an auto correction?

Yes — undo (Ctrl+Z) restores the previous settings, or reset the clip in the Filter tab.

Does it work on photos?

Yes. Photos and video clips are both analysed and corrected.

Will it change the mood of my shots?

It's deliberately conservative: it only moves values that are clearly outside a normal range, and caps colour-cast correction so intentional looks survive.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The frames are read in your browser.
