How to dub a video
- Make captions. In the Text tab, open Auto captions and generate them. To dub into another language, set Show captions in to that language — the captions are translated as they are made.
- Check the words. Fix any names or numbers in the Text tab. The voice says exactly what the captions say.
- Pick the voice. In the Audio tab, under Text to speech, choose the same language as your captions and a voice.
- Press Dub my captions. Each caption becomes a voiceover at its own time, and the original voice is turned down to 15% (untick that if you want to keep it).
What it does for you
- Timed to your captions — every line starts when its caption appears, so the voice follows the picture.
- Fits the gaps — a line that would run into the next caption is spoken a little faster (up to 1.35×) rather than overlapping.
- 12 languages and 31 voices, from Bangla and Hindi to Arabic and German.
- Editable afterwards — each line is an ordinary voiceover you can move, re-time, re-level or delete.
- Private — speech recognition, translation and the voices all run in your browser.
Tips for natural-sounding dubs
- Short captions dub better. One sentence per caption gives the voice natural pauses.
- Leave a little room. Translations often run longer than the original — Spanish and German by about a fifth. If a line sounds rushed, split its caption in two.
- Keep the room sound. Turning the original down to 15% rather than muting it keeps laughter, music and ambience, which makes the dub feel less dry.
- Even it out last. Even out volume makes the new voice and the remaining sound sit at the same loudness.
Frequently asked questions
Does AI dubbing copy my own voice?
No. It uses ready-made AI voices. VDOAPP does not clone voices, which also keeps it clear of impersonation problems.
Which languages can I dub into?
English, Bangla, Hindi, Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, German, Russian, Turkish and Indonesian. Captions can be translated into English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Indonesian and Vietnamese, so the languages both lists share can be dubbed straight from a foreign-language video.
Is the lip movement changed?
No — the picture stays as it is. Dubbing works best for narration, explainers, tutorials and talking-head videos where perfect lip sync isn't expected.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Everything runs on your device; the voice and language models are downloaded once and then work offline.
