How to add music to a video in 4 steps
- Open your video. Add your clips to the editor.
- Add the track. In the Audio tab choose Choose audio file… under Background music and pick a song or sound from your device.
- Balance the levels. Set Music volume, and lower each clip's own sound with Volume in the Clip tab if needed.
- Export. Press Export video — the music is mixed into the final file.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use any song?
You can add any audio file, but you're responsible for having the right to use it. Commercial songs are usually protected by copyright, so for videos you publish, use royalty-free or properly licensed music. Our music guide explains the options.
Can I lower the original sound of my video?
Yes. Each clip has its own Volume setting in the Clip tab, from 0% to 100%.
What if the song is shorter than my video?
By default it loops until the end of the music's length. You can turn looping off, so the music simply ends when the song does.
Where does the music start?
Choose where it starts on your video and how long it plays, pick which part of the song to use, and add a fade in or fade out. By default it starts at the beginning and plays to the end.
Will speech stay clear?
When you record a voiceover, the music is automatically lowered while you speak and brought back up in the gaps.
