How to add your logo to a video

A small, consistent logo makes your videos recognisable when they're shared, reposted or discovered months later. Done well, it's barely noticed; done badly, it distracts from the content. Here's how to prepare your logo file and place it so it builds your brand quietly.

The short version

  • Use a PNG with a transparent background.
  • Keep it small and in the same corner every time.
  • Keep it clear of app buttons on vertical videos.
  • Consider showing it only at the start and end instead of the whole time.
  • Only add logos you own or have permission to use.

Why brand your videos

  • Recognition: viewers who see your logo repeatedly start to remember you.
  • Attribution: when a video is downloaded and reposted, your logo travels with it.
  • Professionalism: consistent branding makes a channel or business feel established.

Prepare the logo file

  • Use a PNG with transparency. A JPG has a solid background box, which looks like a sticker slapped on top. Most design tools can export a transparent PNG; SVG works too.
  • Choose the right version. A simple icon or monogram reads better small than a full logo with a tagline.
  • Make it readable on any background. A white logo disappears on bright scenes, a dark one on night scenes. A version with a subtle outline or a light background shape works everywhere.
  • Use a decent resolution — at least a few hundred pixels across — so it stays crisp.

Placement and size

  • Pick a corner and stick to it. Top-left or top-right are common, and usually clear of the subject.
  • On vertical social video, avoid the bottom and the right-hand side, where captions and buttons sit. The top-left is often the safest spot. See our vertical video guide.
  • Keep it small — often around 5–10% of the frame width is enough to be recognisable without distracting.
  • Leave a margin from the edge of the frame so it doesn't look cramped.

Ways to show a logo

ApproachHowBest for
Corner bugSmall logo in a corner for the whole videoChannels, businesses, reposted content
Intro and outroLogo shown briefly at the start and on the final frameSeries, tutorials, company videos
End cardLogo with a call to action on the last few secondsMarketing and product videos

Many creators combine a subtle corner logo with a slightly larger end card.

Step by step: add a logo in VDOAPP

  1. Open your video in the free online editor and move the playhead to where the logo should appear (the very start for a whole-video logo).
  2. Upload your logo. In the Sticker tab choose + Upload image and pick your PNG.
  3. Size and place it. Drag it into a corner and use the pink handle to make it small.
  4. Set how long it shows. Set Until to the end of the video for a corner logo, or a few seconds for an intro.
  5. Choose an animation — None for a steady corner logo, or Pop in for an intro or end card.
  6. Want it semi-transparent? Add the logo as a photo overlay in the PiP tab instead, where you can lower its Opacity and turn off the border and shadow.
Open the sticker tool to add your logo — free and private.

Common mistakes

  • Too big — the logo competes with the content.
  • A white box around it from a non-transparent image.
  • Moving position between videos, which weakens recognition.
  • Covering captions or faces.
  • Using someone else's logo without permission — only brand videos with logos you own or are licensed to use.
